Refashion: The perfect DIY cut off jeans shorts.

It’s become significantly warmer. What a relief! Spring came so fast but summer makes us wait for it. I’m already dressing like it though: no socks, ankles free, a t-shirt and then: a sweater, a wollen scarf and a hat. I look schizophrenic. Thugh life, I know. Today is the first day (or evening) that you could wear shorts. With a sweater and a scarf and a hat. But still: shorts.

For this occasion I wanted to share the easy step-by-step tutorial to make the perfect cut-off jeans shorts. I consider myself an expert as I cut off 5-6 shorts already (counting this as well – of course). In the beginning I just shortened them at the approximate length but since they turned out as really short shorts (too short to wear out in public – especially on the backside). I came up with the perfect system how to make the right fit.

All you need is:
– an old jeans (baggy jeans work the best)
– big textile scissors
– small scissors
– chalk
– abrasive paper

First put the jeans on and mark with the chalk about at the middle of your upper thigh.

Take the jeans off and cut along the marked line. Now put it back on.

Fold the legs up to the length you want it.

Take the chalk again and mark around the fold. Take the jeans off again and turn it inside out.

Now cut off the legs underneath the chalk line. Voilá! You have the perfect DIY cut off jeans short at the exact length you want it.

To give it a distressed look, rub some parts with the abrasive paper until the fabric is really thin. Take the small scissor and cut out some of the fibres. Repeat on another place. That’s it. Now we have the perfect comfortable DIY cut off jeans shorts.
