I come straight to the point as Easter is just a day away: if you’re still looking for nest to put all the presents, I got you covered: A Easter theme printed bag!
For this DIY I tried a new technique: printing with lavender oil. I was more than skeptical if it would work! The result is fantastic though! If you’ve never heard of it either, I’ve got a DIY-treat for you: it’s easy, quick and the outcome phenomenal. As you might notice, I’m smitten.
All you need for the hand-printed bag:
- A bag
- A laser printer
- This Easter bunny print template
- Washi Tape
- Lavender oil
- A brush
- A spoon
- 2 sheets of baking paper
- An iron
First you need to place the template upside down on the fabric and attach it with the Washi Tape. Take one sheet of baking paper and put it on the inside of the bag (this keeps oil stains for the back of the bag).
Then drop lavender oil on the paper and spread it evenly with the brush, so the image below is covered in oil but there are no pools.
Then take the spoon and rub the oil in. Use a little pressure, be extra thorough around the edges and do it for about 2 mins straight.
Then peel the paper of the bag. Place the second sheet of baking paper on top and iron well on medium heat. Do this in a well ventilated room. The essential oil will evaporate and the smell is quite over-powering.
The whole tutorial is also here on Youtube:
That’s it! You can use it straight away! It took me with filming and taking pictures not even 30 mins! Quick, easy and with a jaw-dropping outcome – that’s a good DIY in my book.
I’ve even read that it can be washed with 30 °C but I haven’t tried it yet. I’ll keep you posted how that goes.
Go try it out and share your results on Social Media – don’t forget to use the hashtag #lookwhatimade_diy for me to see. Or send it as a direct message.
Now. Carry on!
