I miss the cold. Not that I care too much for the cold but I care for the snow, the walks in icy forests and the urge for warm drinks – like punch. In Vienna the Christmas markets end with the 24th of December and with them the punch stands. Normally that’s the time when I really lust for them. But it’s not to worry: I can make the best punch at home – with less sugar and better alcohol (or none if you like that more or have to go to work in the morning).

For this spiced apple orange Amaretto punch is made in 7 mins and tastes delicious.

All you need for 2 servings is:
– 1 cup orange juice
– 1 cup apple juice
– 1 cinnamon stick
– a pinch ground cinnamon
– 4 cloves
– 2 Tbsp Amaretto (optional)

Put the juices with the spices in a pan and bring to boil. Pour them into two large cups and add the Amaretto if you like. That’s it.

It’s easily made for suprise guest or if you come home after a long walk in the cold. I just pretend it’s cold and if you stay outside for long enough you can almost feel it…

The good thing about this recipe is that you can make a huge pot, give the children first and add the Amaretto for the grown-ups. Best for the whole family.

I’m still with my whole family and I love it. I will spend Silvester in Vienna again with friends. So I will be driving home next Sunday. Until then I enjoy getting spoilt by mum and dad. I wonder how old I can get without my parents cooking and baking and going shopping with me. Hopefully 80. This will be fun when we are all old and enjoy this punch in the snowy garden together.
