I’ve really had a hard time adjusting to late fall here in Austria when it was 25 ° C and sunny in Mallorca for 2 weeks. What makes matters worst is that it snowed on Sunday – the first day I was back. So I’m taking extrem measures: coffee, tea and hot chocolate on constant rotation.
I’m more about hot drinks that I’m about comfort food. Maybe because it warms much quicker. So I’m sharing you the best comfort drinks I’m having right now: hot chocolate 3 ways. One with mint, one with coffee and one with spices. All equally delicious.
Spiced hot chocolate
- 1 pinch cinnamon
- 5 cloves
- 1 pinch of cayenne pepper
- 2 cardamon pots
- 2 Tbsp dark cacao
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 250 ml milk
Put all ingredients into a pot and stir well while heating it up.
Sieve into a cup and serve right away.
Enjoy!
Coffee hot chocolate
- 1 espresso
- 1 tsp of coffee liquor
- 2 Tbsp chopped dark chocolate
- 1 tsp raw sugar
- 250 ml milk
- Melt the chocolate in the milk.
Add the coffee liquor.
Pour it over the espresso in a cup.
Enjoy!
Mint hot chocolate
- 2 Tbsp dried peppermint
- 2 Tbsp chopped dark chocolate
- 1 tsp sugar
- 250 g of milk
Cook the milk with the peppermint and add the sugar.
Sieve it and put it back into the pot.
Melt the chocolate in the minted milk.
Pour into a cup and enjoy!
As we speak (or write and read) I’m holding a mint hot chocolate in my hand and sip on it. It’s the perfect pick-me-up. I guess my milk consumption will go way up this winter. It’s a good thing that I can whip all of this recipes up with ingredients I have already at home.
Are you ready for the cold days? What do you do to stay positive?
Now. Carry on!
