You might wonder why I post another love-themed DIY just weeks after Valentine’s Day. That’s because it’s an assignment. An order from my sister. Why? This might be a story that she has to tell you. Since she can’t, I’m happy to jump in.
A few weeks ago she met a guy after being single for some time. After some dating they are a couple now and when she told me, she said – almost – these exact words: I like him a little bit more than originally intended. I found that so sweet that I made this poster for her to give away or display in her own flat.
I also jumped at this opportunity because I was looking for excuses to start doing watercolor calligraphy since I watched this educational video on watercolor lettering. Unfortunately I don’t have the equipment yet to do it but I did a work around.
All you need is:
- green acrylic color
- a sponge
- a bowl
- a pencil
- a rubber
- a thin black pen
- a thick black pen
- painting paper
- a wooden board
- washi tape
For the background of the watercolor calligraphy put some water into a bowl and add a little green acrylic color. Stir well. Now take the sponge and wipe the color over the paper. Let it dry completely.
Now draft the words you want with the pencil. Because I’m not so good with making beautiful letters just by hand, I always search for fonts that I like and copy the letters until I figure out my own style.
Draw the outlines with the thin black paper and fill in the spaces with the thick black pen.
I stuck the paper onto a board with some washi tape and just lean it against the wall. Doesn’t that look just fresh?!
I might take some more Skillshare Classes to learn more techniques and handy skills. At least it was one of my goals for 2016 to learn something new.
I’m already taking classes on how to improve on SEO and make a newsletter. Would you be interested in a blogpost on how to improve your own blog or website?
Now. Carry on!
