You know what love letter and gestures I love the most? The surprising ones. When someone sneaks you a little note into your bag or tells you “I love you” when you’re in your sweats watching a movie. I try to do those little thing in my daily life and I have to admit that I haven’t been really good at it lately. I’ve been stressed and working a lot and I’m taking it out on the ones that deserve it the least: my family, friends and boyfriend.
That sounds now more horrible than it is but I should invest more in the things that really matter and less in the things that don’t. Who really thinks about a blogpost you wrote a year from now? Or a concept you created. I mean not that you shouldn’t put all your effort into it when creating something but don’t let the emotions and stress go beyond your working hours.
Once I write it down it sounds so simple but I know that it’s hard work in real life. So let’s be Valentine’s Day a reminder of what’s really important: the people you spend your life with – be it work or private life.
I created these customized cups to surprise someone you love/like. Depending on the message you hide in the cup you can give it to nearly everybody.
All you need is:
- a cup
- a permanent marker
- nail polish remover
- cotton swap
Choose the message you want to write into the cup. Take your permanent marker and write it inside. This might take a few takes. You can easily “erase” the writing with a cotton swap and the nail polish remover and start over. I kinda like the handwritten – not perfect – style of it. Aren’t we all imperfect and isn’t that what makes us special? So let that cup be special too and show that you made it.
Put the cup into the oven and turn the heat up to 180 ° C. Bake it for about 30 mins and let it cool in the oven afterwards.
I tried if it’s dishwasher-safe and it’s not. Just so you know.
I love that it looks like a plain cup from the outside and then tadaaaaaa! A hidden message. You could also fill it with chocolate or other sweets to give it to someone in the office or a friend. The possibilities are endless.
I decided to make 3 cups with hidden love messages saying:
- I put a lot of love in it.
- You fill my ❤️ with joy.
- I love you more than coffee.
Feel free to create your own or use mine. Whatever. Just make it come from your heart.
It’s a cute hidden love message that appears if you fill it with coffee first and let the recipient drink it all before the message appears.
In the picture above I filled the cup with rosehips tea to have this red color and the message that shines through. Cheesy, right?
What would you write into the cup? Who would you give it to? There’s still time for me to make some more to hand out.
Now. Carry on!
Love this!! How cute and original. Sending this to my daughter straight away!
I’m glad you like it! 🙂
