You might remember the custom-made love sign I made a while ago. I made it about a week before I met my sister again and had it hanging in my bedroom where I could see it every morning. I still love the quote saying “I like you a little more than originally intended”. But staring at it for 5 mins or until I could get myself to leave the comfort of my bed, I wasn’t really happy with the execution of it.

Do you know that feeling that you create something, think it’s great and slowly, slowly doubts start to creep in? But I wouldn’t be a crafter if I didn’t see this as an opportunity: to create something new and improved.

I always wanted to try this 3D typography art I saw online and thought I give it a try. It was easier and faster than the faux watercolor version and it’s been hanging across my bed for quite some time now and I’m still happy with it. I guess it’s time to give it away – it was intended as present.

  • colored paper
  • thin white paper to print this 3D typography template
  • a scalpel

First you need to create the template or download my quote here. Stick it onto the thick white paper and carve out the letters. Make sure that you don’t cut the left side of each letter!

Take the template off and it should look like this.

Now bend the letters outward.

Put the colored paper to the back and stick it to the plywood with the Washi tape.

This little stitched heart is a DIY I did some time ago. You can find the tutorial for that wood embroidery here.

After I finished this I’m looking for some spring crafts. If you have an idea or want me to try something, let me know! I’d love to hear what you’re working on in the comments.

Now. Carry on!
